Today Is The First Day Of The Rest Of Your Days, So Lighten Up Squirt

 Popmusic Broilers

Manufactured pop and manufactured chicken both mass produced and surreal. These are chicken with no feathers, they have actually been created in israel. The outlook for intensive farming looks more and more grim the more I looked into it. So I drew them dancing in a line like a manufactured boy band.

I am doing a project on selective breeding and my aim was to create a kind of freakshow of animals that have been engineered for human benefit. Was rather interesting as it is a subject I am very passionate about being a vegetarian for 10 years.

  1. are you looking into species bred selectively just for human consumption or for other "uses"?

  2. well I wanted to narrow it down to just farm animals, so basicly the animals for consumption. The sheep in my header are pre-dyed sheep, they can hatch coloured chicks you know! Its disturbing.

  3. Yeah I clicked on the link with the featherless chicken, shocking! I've been doing research into line bred aquarium fish, some of the breeds they are coming up with are disgusting, made to look "nicer" for the fanciers yet have such a detrimental effect on the fishes quality of life, pffft I guess people might be more bothered if it was happening to small, cute and furry animals on such a scale!

  4. Does that include those goldfish with the growths that look like external brains? Dont tell me they are natural. Or those ones with the puffy eyes?

  5. Exactly that. The goldfish is basically descended from the crucian carp which can adapt to live in pretty much any climate which makes it easy for the bastards to play god, they've been bred to have air bags under the eyes, bulbous eyes, brain-like masses from the foreheads, even to the point where alot of strains have lost there dorsal fin. None of these "breeds" could compete to live in the wild yet its often the most horribly deformed ones that win the prizes at shows and get picked up in aquarium stores! You'd be very lucky to find a natural Goldfish aka "Carassius auratus auratus" in any aquarium outlet nowadays, they're all bred left right and centre to mans liking to a certain point. Soz for the rant but it does me tits in!
